Compassion Work : Nonviolent Compassionate Communication & Connection

NVC Nonviolent Communication Needs

Focusing on Needs to connect with life

Human quest to connect with body, mind and life is not new. Since ancient times humans have been using different means to connect with life in self; Connecting through breath, meditation, prayers or spirituality etc.

Consciousness of Nonviolent Communication makes connection with life through connection with needs which live in the body & mind.
A core concept in Nonviolent Communication is that,

Every human (or animal or plant) behavior; Everything we do is (or can be seen as) an attempt to meet some need present in the life or body & mind.

For NVC, moment by moment Life happens through expressions of 'Needs'.
On the day of birth baby is having needs.
Baby may cry in attempt get needs met; and then we may start to guess, What the baby could be needing?
Food, Comfort, Touch or Warmth, Rest?
And we may try to feed baby, change diaper, hold baby close to our body, rock the baby to sleep to help them meet their needs.
And we could be doing this to baby to meet our own needs to Contribute to babies life.

NVC tries to create connection with life by creating connection with needs.

When attention is focused on needs underneath thoughts, words or behavior being expressed; from self or from others; then that creates more possibilities for more clarity, connection, compassion, empathy, safety, understanding, harmony, collaboration and life-serving to emerge.
