Our world stands 'One misunderstanding away' from getting started with nuclear catastrophe within 10 minutes and mass destruction of life & resources on planet in less than a couple of hours
I see that the human species while evolved in many ways, still go through many challenges at individual as well as collective levels.
There is lot of pain, suffering, alienation, conflicts; which is part of living this existence.
But a very substantial part of these suffering & conflicts can also be easily avoided, healed or restored; if we can get very small shifts in our consciousness, in our ways of relating with self and each other, where we focus our attention, and how we think and communicate.
Nonviolent Communication (NVC) was developed by Dr Marshall Rosenberg in the exploration of what creates violence and alienation in humans and on the other hand what helps in being and remaining compassionate even in the difficult circumstances.
Nonviolent Communication is not merely about communication between people, but the deeper core of NVC is about creating & being in connection with life. Connection with life in self, moment by moment, and also connection with life in others.
The words and languages which exist in societies bring immense convenience in communication, understanding, imaginations and transfer of information.
But words and languages can also be used in ways which may create substantial alienation or disconnection, within self and with others.
Sadly many ways of languages & communication have become so habitual in society & cultures, that many of us may not be aware about how our even well intended, caring, love or value-driven driven communication also creates so much disconnection.
We sadly witness visible physical violence in society which creates pain in or on the body. But there is also so much invisible emotional pain, suffering, hurt, which is carried silently or gets expressed, alas many times in tragic ways and outcomes they bring.
In the realm of physical violence, most of the time verbal, emotional pain or violence gets created first which then culminate into physical violence. So the seeds and roots of physical violence are also there in the words and communication.
I prefer to use word 'Life-alienation' instead of violence,as especially in case of emotional violence, what qualifies to be called as 'Violence' can be matter of perceptions. But still using word violence for audience to relate or understand.
Violence can happen outwards, towards other life, or can also happen inwards, towards the life in self (self-harm).
A substantial population lives with influences coming from relational, emotional challenges or mental health. There are internal conflicts within self, disconnections in relationships, disharmony or conflicts within groups, society & identity groups and in nations culminating in wars.
